A very brief account of what Tai Chi is and the benifits
WHAT IS TAI CHI CHUAN?
Tai Chi Chuan is usually translated as "Grand Ultimate Boxing" and is a Chinese Internal Martial Art.
It is also a physical, mental and spiritual disipline used for cultivating "CHI".
Loosely translated as "Breath or Energy".
Tai Chi requires no equipment, uniform, special diet or way of life. Neither does it require a special time and place to practice.
The most well know part of Tai Chi is the Tai Chi Form. A series of slow, continuous flowing movements. Which is done with calm, quiet concentration and soft slow breathing. That is why it is sometimes referred to as meditaion in motion.
WHY DO TAI CHI?
The benifits are endless. On a physical level - improved flexibility, co-ordination, balance, your body will become stronger, improved circulation, you will feel more confident so your body will have better posture.
on a mental level - you will be able to think more clearly, therefore having better concentration.
on a emotional level - you will come more relaxed and have more patience, thus feeling better about yourself.
TAO ("WAY OR PATH")
Tai chi is a personal journey, each person will take what he/she wants from the art and achieve what goal he/she requires. It is up to the indivdual what "way or path" they choose. There is no hurry or time scale, each person will find their "own way".
The more you put in the more you get out.
This saying is typically true of Tai Chi.
